Position Overview

As a Quality Specialist, you will report directly to the Quality Manager, and will administer the Company Quality Plan. In this role, you will be responsible for assuring that quality standards and procedures are disseminated and implemented throughout the company. You will perform and report on internal quality system audits and assists in the overall administration of the internal audit program.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain effective communications and relations (verbally and in writing) with district management, project management teams and engineers/clients as required.

  • Examine and inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies and cost saving measures that arise or that may be encountered; take corrective action as needed.

  • Maintain Client Schedules, Tracking and Trends

  • Listen to employee and supervisor suggestions, complaints, problems, safety concerns and recommendations, evaluate each and then devise and implement a plan of action based on that evaluation.

  • Identify potential safety hazards and take all necessary corrective actions to eliminate or minimize them.

  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the Kiewit Quality Management System and procedures and promote standardization.

  • Draft and maintain a Project Quality Plan for any given project including the Quality activities required on a project and associated metrics

  • Identify potential quality incidents before they arise

  • Participate in district standards meetings and provide input/feedback as it relates to quality assurance.

  • Understand requirements of ISO 9001 Standards.

  • Help in the planning of, and participates in, internal quality audits. Conduct reviews of required documents and support materials, interviews staff, and administers online audit questions to assess compliance with documented procedures.

  • Provide administrative support for audits, other Quality Department programs and initiatives, and Monthly Operations Reviews.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field

  • 4 yrs engineering or construction related years’ experience

  • Working knowledge of quality control procedures relating to design/construction activities is required

  • Ability to work in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and SharePoint software programs as well as able to quickly learn other software applications

  • P3/P6 software knowledge is highly desired

  • ASQ, CQM, CQA or CWI certified and inspection experience a plus

  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in a wide-ranging climates and environments

  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills, ability to research and work with detailed/technical matters and convey/explain the information to field personnel

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to perform a variety of tasks with deadlines and potentially frequent interruptions

  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity

  • Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt

  • Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals and objectives

  • Ability to travel as business requires
